Going strong for 4 years. I purchased this product back in 2012 from Future Shop when I bought my first laptop. The good news is that I'm still using both. I plan on purchasing a new laptop very soon and I have no intentions on buying a new chill mat because as far as I'm concerned, this one is perfect. It's a little noisy at times, but it's very easy to use and keeps my laptop cool. I feel I can give credit to this chill mat for the longevity of my current laptop. I've certainly gotten way more out of it than I expected for it's value and I hope I continue to.
Poor quality unit It cools as it should, no problem there, but after five months of ownership the fan has started to, intermittently, make a lot of noise. I took the unit back to Best Buy, but they told me I had to send it back to the manufacturer for repairs. When I only paid (the price) for the unit paying to have it shipped back to the manufacturer/repair center doesn't make economic sense to me. I think Best Buy should have taken the unit back and replaced it with a new one. Poor customer service on Best Buy's part.

While it may not perform as well as higher-end cooling pads, it 1) has given me no problems, 2) has boosted the performance of my laptop to a visible degree, and 3) is ergonomically designed, in that it slants the keyboard towards the user for easier typing. For a cooling pad of this price, this Targus cooling pad deserves a 5 star rating (In my opinion). War of the chosen mods. Works but dies after 6 months. This cool mat works really well, however, the cord will damage over time. There will be no visible damage, but because the cord has to bend to be plugged in to the USB slot, the connection between the USB and the cord will wear out over time (this happened with both of mine, and the ones my friends had). I personally fixed this issue by stripping the wire and reconnecting the head, but if you don't want to go through the trouble of doing that, and you want the mat to last over a year, I suggest looking at something else.

Had one for years I bought one of these when I got my Toshiba back in 2010 and it worked wonderfully. It kept my lap cool, as I use my laptop either on my lap or bed, and it kept dust out of my laptop vent. The only con is with the design. All of my laptop vents have been on the left side while the fan used to blow cool air on my laptop was on the right. It did a bit to help with cooling but not as much as I would like. I would definitely buy another one, as after 3.5 years it still is a great accessory.
